On October 16th researchers from the Belgium IMEC-DISTRINET Research Group released details to the public about a flaw present in current wireless encryption standards. The details of the vulnerability are interesting and you can read more at the ‘official’ announcement site (https://www.krackattacks.com/).
Essentially this vulnerability allows an attacker to manipulate and intercept encrypted network traffic – necessitating patches and updates for all affected wireless devices. At HTS, we’ve already patched the wireless access points we actively manage for our customers and are monitoring news for related patches as they are released. As of this notice Google and Apple have yet to release patches for Android and IoS devices, so Android and iPhone users should keep an eye on the news and remember to update ASAP.
